NVC’s Chinese volunteer teacher Pan Pan Meng attended a two-day training program held last September 23-24, 2017 at the Manila Central Hotel, Binondo, Manila to share her experiences and to learn more about how to be effective in teaching Chinese language.

In the event hosted by the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chinese volunteer teachers from all over the Philippines convened and listened as the different authorities in Chinese language education imparted their expertise. Ayette C. Ferriols, Senior Commissioner of Philippine Ministry of Education discussed the country’s Special Chinese Development Program for the year 2017-2018. Dr. Ellen H. Palanca, Local Principal of Ateneo Confucius Institute, shared the best practices of the Ateneo Confucis Institute and the Philippine Mainstream Society. Pei Gang, a local Chinese teacher in Angeles Confucius Institute and Fan Rong, Official Chinese teacher from the same institution both gave tips on how to conduct a very good Chinese class by analyzing the key points and difficulty in teaching, and the examples of teaching preparations, respectively. At some point in the training program, Wang Bolin, representative of Chinese volunteer teachers in the Philippines told the audience why they love teaching Chinese in the Philippines.

There was also a group activity where the participants disclosed their teaching skills, after which they sought to solve the questions raised by the group.

Ms. Pan Pan Meng’s continuous and intensive participation to these trainings is the reason why students of NVC get high quality, updated, research-based, and holistic Chinese language education.
