Deans and heads of the different departments of Northwestern Visayan Colleges attended the Meeting of Deans of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Region VI held last September 14, 2017 at Amigo Terrace Hotel, Iznart Street, Iloilo City.
The following were present in the said meeting: Dr. Dennis Ibutnande - Dean, Criminology Department; Dr. Marianne Lao Quimpo - Dean, Teacher Education Department; Ms. Nolit Kismundo - Coordinator, Hotel and Restaurant Management Ms. Angelie Custodio - Coordinator, Mass Communication Department; and Mr. Joeblas Diaz – Dean, Computer Science Department.Department.
Subject matters discussed were the updates regarding revised Policies, Standards and Guidelines of Outcome Based Education (OBE) programs. This is to ensure that the different academic programs operations of HEIs in the region are administered, in compliance with CHED regulations.
Another topic tackled was the General Education Curriculum which will be implemented on 2018. In the said curriculum, unnecessary minor subjects will be dissolved. Students will also be given the privilege to choose the medium of instruction. This is to allow students to have a more realistic and practical learning experience.
Some of the NVC delegates were elected in the council of deans under their respective discipline clusters: Dr. Dennis Ibutnande – Consultant; Dr. Marianne Lao Quimpo - Assistant Treasurer: and Ms. Kismundo - Public Relation Officer.
